Alternative PHP Cache, or APC, is a module for Apache servers which is used to cache the output code of script apps. It is very effective for scripts with large source code and could speed up such a site up to 3 times. PHP sites are dynamic and each time a website visitor accesses a webpage, the script links to a database to retrieve some content, after that the code is parsed and compiled before it's shown to the website visitor. If the output code does not change however, that is the case with Internet sites that show the exact same content at all times, these actions result in unnecessary reading and writing. What APC does is that it caches the previously compiled program code and delivers it whenever visitors browse a website, so the database doesn't need to be accessed and the program code doesn't need to be parsed and compiled repeatedly, that in turn reduces the website loading time. The module can be extremely effective for informational websites, blogs, portfolios, etc.
APC (PHP Opcode Cache) in Shared Hosting
You can use APC with each shared hosting package that we provide since it is already installed on our advanced cloud platform and activating it will take you only a couple of clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. As our platform is extremely flexible, you will be able to run Internet sites with different system requirements and decide whether they will work with APC or not. For instance, you can allow APC only for a single version of PHP or you can do this for several of the releases running on the platform. You can also decide if all websites working with a given PHP version will use APC or whether the latter will be enabled just for selected sites and not for all sites in the website hosting account. The aforementioned option is useful if you wish to employ a different web accelerator for some of your Internet sites. These customizations are done without any difficulty by using a php.ini file in selected domain or subdomain folders.
APC (PHP Opcode Cache) in Semi-dedicated Servers
You’ll be able to use APC for every script application that runs on your new semi-dedicated server as the module is pre-installed on the cloud hosting platform where the account will be made. Activating or deactivating APC for the whole account takes one click from the Hepsia Control Panel, but if needed, you can use the module just for particular sites. This is possible because of the flexibility of our cloud platform - several versions of PHP run on it at the same time, so with a php.ini file placed in a website folder, you can choose what version will be used for this specific website and whether APC has to be enabled or disabled. Employing such a file allows you to use settings which are different from the standard ones for your account, so you'll be able to take advantage of APC for some scripts where the module will make a difference and not for others where you can take advantage of a different type of web accelerator.
